Nepal Geranium (Geranium nepalense) is a herb belonging to the Geraniaceae family (Geranium family). Members of this family are generally characterised by alternate/opposite palmate lobed leaves, cymose umbel flower clusters, schizocarp with beak fruit. It is typically found in shola forests key identification features : perennial, several stemmed, hairy, decumbent herbs with branches rooting at nodes; leaves opposite, angled, lobed, spreading, pubescent; petiole long, villous, covered with white hairs; flowers solitary or binate purple-pinkish; calyx persistent; corolla red-purplish; fruit a ellipsoid, subglobose, lobed capsule which dehisces ventrally; seed ellipsoid, long, smooth, shiny and black. It is native to Asia. Flowering and fruiting are typically seen during April-September.
