Oleandraceae

Long, narrow, once-divided fronds with widely spaced, jointed leaflets that detach cleanly at a distinct swollen base when mature, growing from a wiry, widely creeping rhizome.

As true ferns this family has no flowers or seeds — its leaflets are jointed and shed individually at a clean break point, unlike the leaflets of most other fern families, which simply wither in place.

To check whether a plant belongs to Oleandraceae, compare the leaf arrangement, leaf type, flower symmetry, fruit type, and one distinctive marker together. A single feature can mislead; the family pattern is the combination.
