Hypodematiaceae

Broad, finely divided, hairy fronds growing in a spreading crown from a stout, densely scaly rhizome; round spore clusters on the frond underside are each covered by a small, often hairy, kidney-shaped flap.

As true ferns this family has no flowers or seeds — its densely hairy rhizome scales and fronds distinguish it from otherwise similar wood-fern relatives.
